October 17th: Winding Down

The milkweed pods are essentially empty.
The bindweed and bittersweet leaves are yellowing.
 Eerily, the nightshade berries left over from the previous year are as red and shiny as ever.
The primrose displays one yellow blossom; the dried and open seed cases predominate.
The poke-weed bush is heavy with berries, although it still puts forth flowers, heavily stained with purple and destined to be short.
  The maple leaves show brave color,
The calico asters continue to bloom, although with much shorter petals.
The color of the black raspberries is subdued,
